I'm Matthew Rees, a painter based in France. My work centres on landscape, the point where sky meets earth, built up in layers of paint, impasto texture, and colour that sits somewhere between representation and abstraction.

I paint in series, each one working through a particular idea or place until it's done saying what it needs to say. Alongside painting, I run creative workshops for visitors passing through this part of France.
